A Few Final Thoughts
- Technology is dynamic and changing, and now we've reached a point where an average teacher can incorporate new ideas into their pedagogy with relative ease. (Rip Van Winkle story).
- YouTube is only three years old. When I was in high school, I'd scarcely heard of Windows operating platforms, let alone the internet. Five, ten, fifteen years from now, as we start to get settled into our professions, things will be as different or more so than they were 5, 10, 15 years ago. The role of YouTube in society will probably evolve, and there will probably be other significant seismic shifts in what technologies become available to educators.
- So be flexible and adaptable. Students in 2020 will probably have different experiences of technology than students in 2010 will.
- By watching new technologies as they become available, and imagining how they can be used to better students' learning, we can become more effective educators.
